blossom
After Liz Berry
let me die on the clay by the rivers edge
so i am carried to the sea
and on my way let each cherry tree
lay its blossom over me
i do not want a coffin god forgive me
to be carried
down the aisle of a church
i want air
water and blossom
let me be so covered in blossom
the birds forget i am flesh
and carry small fragments
of me to their nests let me be
reborn in death let me be blossom
in a flying birds beak let me be soft
lovely blossom
dappling the weed
washed up with the bottles
on the beach
